What airport do I fly into?

Bangor Maine (Airport code BGR). This is the closest airport however it will also be the most expensive since it's a smaller airport and only smaller aircraft service this airport. The good part is Bangor is only 1 hour from Bar Harbor so this offers the shortest drive.

Portland Maine (Airport code PWM). If you follow the quickest route Bar Harbor is a 3 hour drive from Portland however if you are flying into PWM and have the time we highly recommend taking an extra hour and taking US 1. Especially if it is a nice day US 1 follows the coast of Maine up to Bar Harbor and is a much nicer drive.

Boston (Airport code BOS). Boston MA to Bar Harbor is a 5 hour drive by the quickest route. Again US 1 offers a much more scenic drive of you have the time!

If you have a late flight and are flying into Boston we recommend you drive the short distance out of Massachusetts to Portsmouth NH before trying to find a hotel for the night, it will be much cheaper! If you are flying into Portland late then a hotel in Portland will be your best bet.
